13 February 2002

2:00pm its my year! chuc mung nam moi! i always wanted to be a cooler sign, like tiger or dragon (makes for a cooler tattoo), but after talking it over with bill, horse is definitely better than rat...or pig...or chicken (i mean rooster).

last night, for the LUNAR new year, four of us went to ozumo for some RIPOFF CHINTZY japanese food. we ordered the kobe beef (5 slices for $38), some sashimi platter ($25 for 7 slices, assorted), a sushi platter ($20 for 7 nigiri), garlic edamame ($3, tasty!), seared sake ($20 for 3 cubes--tasty!), and $6 for a bottle of evian (when asked if we wanted water). the sashimi was not as fresh as i expect when paying a premium--i could definitely go elsewhere and get better quality (and more). after ordering a few dishes, we paid our (overpriced) bill, said goodbye to our pushy waiter, and headed over to clement st. for some chinese food. none of us were full from the japanese food (and it probably would have taken us another $200 to get there--i'd have to have eaten 2.5 main dishes to be full, and i don't really eat that much (like wahine, most american portions can be turned into 2-3 meals for me.). oh yeah, and even their drinks (i had a cosmo) were watered down, although i paid the standard price. don't go there unless you're a sucker for elegant decor and being hungry afterwards.
